Return & Realign

Return & Realign

Written by:  Shibity Wheat

Sometimes we have no clue how far our hearts have drifted until we finally slow down.

We can still be serving. We can still be taking care of the kids, showing up for responsibilities, answering messages, helping others, and being there for people who need us. From the outside, it looks like we’re still functioning.  But underneath it all, something inside us feels unsettled or overwhelmed.

Our thoughts get loud.
Our emotions feel heavy.
Our pace starts to feel rushed.
Our peace feels thin.

Return and Realign begins with one simple invitation:

Come back to God before trying to fix everything.

Returning isn’t failure. It’s wisdom. It’s the moment we stop trying to carry everything by ourselves and begin bringing our hearts back into God’s presence.

But returning isn’t only about dropping things off with God and walking away empty handed. It’s a holy exchange.

We bring Him what’s heavy.
We receive His peace.

We bring Him what’s confusing.
We receive His wisdom.

We bring Him what we fear.
We receive His steady safety.

We bring Him what’s been leading us.
We receive His truth again.

Return and Realign connects with Dwell.  We don’t come into God’s presence just long enough to unload what hurts. We stay with Him long enough to let Him steady what’s been shaken, quiet what’s been loud, and restore what’s been lost or disordered.

Sometimes we want quick relief, but God isn’t just trying to remove pressure. He’s forming peace within us.

Realignment happens as we let Him show us what’s been carrying too much authority in our hearts. Maybe fear has been setting the pace. Maybe pressure has been shaping our decisions. Maybe pain has been speaking louder than truth. Maybe we’ve been trying to force clarity before receiving peace.

God doesn’t shame us for needing to return. He knows our needs before we do and always welcomes us there.

In His presence, we can pause long enough to ask:

What’s been pulling my heart away from peace?
What have I been carrying alone?
What’s God inviting me to release?
What do I need to receive from Him today?
What’s the next faithful step from here?

Return and Realign isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about letting God bring our hearts back under His care so we can move from a clearer place.  It's also not only a place to return to when you're under pressure or overwhelmed.  Returning and Realigning with His Will and His Way is essential in our walk with Him.  We are required to be intentional about staying in His Flow.

Sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is stop, breathe, pray, and come back.

A simple prayer:
Father, help me return to You. Show me what’s been leading me, and realign my heart with Your truth, peace, and love. Help me release what’s heavy and receive what You’re giving. In the Name of Jesus,

Amen.

Next faithful step:
Take five quiet minutes today. Ask God, “Where do I need to return and realign? What do I need to release, and what do I need to receive from You?”
